What does a drying session cost?

Change the assumptions to match your setup. Electricity use is easier to compare when the calculation is visible.

$0.12

Estimated session electricity cost · $0.12 per spool · 0.60 kWh

Use measured average power where possible. Nameplate wattage produces a constant-power scenario and may overestimate cycling equipment. This excludes the dryer purchase, taxes, standing charges, and other printing costs.

The calculation

Watts ÷ 1,000 × hours × electricity rate gives the estimated cost. Divide that result by the number of spools in the same cycle for an equal per-spool allocation. It does not measure the efficiency of a particular dryer.

Use a realistic power figure

Heaters can cycle, and fans or controls use power too. A plug-in meter suitable for the device and local electrical supply can record actual energy over a complete cycle. If you enter the rated maximum instead, label the result as a scenario. Do not shorten a required material drying cycle simply to lower the estimate.
