Use this guide with the current official SUNLU S2 manual—not instead of it. Confirm that your delivered unit is the fan-equipped FilaDryer S2 described by SUNLU, install the roller, choose the outlet from the reel’s unwind direction, map the four touch controls, and verify every temperature-and-time pair against the exact filament and carrier reel before starting.
Open the current SUNLU S2 manual beside the machine. Use the exact-grade drying reference for the filament process, the S2 product note for documented limits, and the S2 versus S4 comparison only for the buying decision.
Confirm the exact S2 revision and manual first
SUNLU currently describes the FilaDryer S2 as a single-spool unit with dual upper and lower heating plates, a bottom circulating fan, a 35–70°C adjustable range, a 4.6-inch display, and print-while-drying support. Check the nameplate, delivered parts, regional power adapter, and visible fan-equipped layout against the current product page before applying this guide. Do not transfer S1, S1 Plus, S4, S4 Pro, E2, or SP2 instructions to the S2 because the controls, capacity, and heating system differ.
Open SUNLU’s current one-sheet S2 manual from the Sources section and keep it beside the machine. The official sheet is the authority for the pictured part positions and button sequence. This article adds decision checks the sheet leaves implicit; it does not reproduce the manual, replace a safety instruction, or certify an older revision that does not match SUNLU’s current fan-equipped page.
Install the roller and choose the outlet by unwind direction
The current S2 sheet starts by placing the assembled roller in the recessed groove at the bottom of the chamber. Before loading filament, confirm that the roller is fully seated, clean, and able to turn as intended. Measure the complete reel—including rims, labels, and any adapter—against SUNLU’s documented maximum envelope of 210 mm diameter by 85 mm width. Nominal filament weight does not establish fit.
SUNLU identifies two filament holes. Use hole 1 for a reel that unwinds counterclockwise and hole 2 for a reel that unwinds clockwise, as viewed in the manual’s loading illustration. Route the loose end without crossing the roller, rubbing a rim, or forcing a sharp turn. Close the chamber only after the reel rotates freely and the selected outlet matches its natural unwind direction.
Power on and map the four touch controls
After the roller, reel, and outlet are ready, connect the specified power adapter to the S2’s rear connector and then to a suitable outlet according to the manual and product label. The current one-sheet manual says to double-click the ON/OFF control to turn the unit on or off. A single tap is therefore not the documented power sequence.
The same sheet says to press SET to move through menu fields, use the up control to increase or switch the selected value, and use the down control to decrease or toggle it. Move through the fields once before starting so you can identify the displayed temperature, time, material, LED, and run state without guessing. If a delivered screen or control sequence differs, stop and locate the manual for that exact revision rather than forcing the current sequence.
Treat SUNLU presets as controls—not universal material settings
SUNLU’s product page describes one-touch material presets, and the one-sheet manual provides broad family temperature bands with a shared three-to-six-hour reference. Those labels are a machine interface and quick reference; they do not identify your filament’s brand, full grade, additives, starting condition, drying method, or carrier-reel limit. Do not treat a PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS, PA, or PC label on the S2 as proof that every product in that family supports the displayed pair.
Look up the current drying instruction for the exact filament product first. Keep its temperature, time, method, and starting-condition wording together. Then confirm that the S2 can supply that pair and that the carrier reel tolerates it. If the filament source is missing, conflicts with another official source, exceeds 70°C, or requires an unsupported method, pause instead of compensating with an invented hotter, cooler, longer, or repeated cycle.
- Exact filament product and method are known: compare the complete pair with the S2 range.
- Only the polymer family is known: find the product-level instruction before selecting a preset.
- Reel or adapter heat limit is unknown: resolve it before heating the loaded spool.
- The required temperature exceeds 70°C: choose compatible equipment or obtain an approved alternative.

Check the room, reel, and displayed cycle before RUN
The current manual gives 20–35°C as the product’s operating ambient range and notes that below 10°C heating may be slower or may not reach the set temperature. Keep the S2 on a stable surface with the clearances and power arrangement in the exact instructions. Do not use that low-room-temperature note as permission to change the documented filament process or defeat a device safeguard.
Before starting, record the S2 revision, filament product, reel or carrier, source URL, selected temperature, selected time, load, outlet, and whether you plan to print from the chamber. Compare the set values with the source one last time. The display reports chamber conditions and the selected cycle; it does not directly measure moisture inside every winding of the spool or prove that a family preset matches an exact grade.
Print while drying only after a feed-path check
SUNLU documents print-while-drying support for the current S2. That feature establishes an outlet and operating workflow, not compatibility with every printer, tube, feeder, flexible filament, or bend radius. Place the S2 so the selected outlet can reach the printer without crossing moving axes, pulling the dryer, pinching the filament, or blocking lid access.
With the heater off, turn the loaded reel by hand only as the manual permits and verify free rotation through the chosen outlet. Then use a short, supported print to observe the complete path before relying on it for a long job. A feed restriction is a separate problem from moisture. Do not increase temperature or extend time to solve a reel, tube, feeder, or printer-resistance issue.
Finish with a repeatable record and a clear stop rule
At the end of the supported cycle, record whether the target print improved, remained unchanged, or became worse while other print variables stayed stable. Move the prepared spool into appropriate storage if it will not remain in use. The S2’s display and broad material labels are not evidence that every part of the spool reached the same moisture condition.
If the unit does not power on with the documented double-click, the screen or controls differ from the current manual, the reel does not turn freely, the setpoint cannot be maintained in the stated operating environment, or the heater/fan behavior appears abnormal, stop the cycle and use SUNLU support for the exact revision. Do not open an electrical enclosure, bypass a control, block airflow, add an internal fan, or continue heating to diagnose a malfunction.
